The Gas and Fuel Buildings popped into my head the other day, not really sure why.  Anyway I showed a picture of them to my husband who currently works in the CBD but hadn't really lived in Melbourne until the early to mid 2000s and he had no recollection of ever having seen them and couldn't believe their size and form.

I remember them well and after school my friends and I would occasionally visit the odd collection of shops located under the raised plaza on the corner of Swanston Street.  There was an instant photo booth there too.  The buildings were demolished in 1997 and now of course, the site is home to Fed Square.
